This is an exceptional opportunity to pursue development studies. Students live and work on a campus that is part of an on-going rural development project. The PGRRM is an innovative course which will empower students to develop as leaders who will bring about a radical all-round change in the Third World through sustainable development. The course builds their capacity to accelerate change towards a more sustainable society and make a positive contribution to the economy and the environment. It prepares students to work as managers or executive officers in both governmental and non-governmental rural enterprises. It also prepares them to work for development NGOs and their networks, international and UN aid agencies, large village councils, rural co-operatives, corporate donor agencies and farm estates. Above all, the course prepares entrepreneurs who will be well equipped to set up and run their own ventures. It is the intention of the course that successful students will create a special place for themselves in society and will act as agents of change for rural society.

This is a unique programme most suited to those with an open mind and flexible approach to learning. They will need to think critically and work both independently and with their fellow students.

The course is 50% practical and provides students with invaluable first-hand experience of development issues and real-life problems of rural people.  Part of the course involves working with selected rural families to identify their key problems and helping to solve them. This kind of learning is the most effective way to obtain a deep and lasting knowledge and be empowered to bring about the transformation of a passive society.

This programme is affiliated to M J P Rohilkhand University, Bareilly, India. The university is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities.
