Volunteering abroad on a low budget
Indian Volunteers for Community Service, or IVCS, is a registered charity whose aim is to raise awareness of rural
development in India by enabling people to experience grass roots development through
direct involvement.
IVCS runs a scheme allowing people to experience rural India. Whether you want to do voluntary work in India, volunteer abroad on a low budget, teach English in India, visit an international development project, or visit an Indian village,
this could be the scheme for you.
The Experience Rural India scheme allows people to
visit development projects in rural India. The scheme is extremely flexible and cheap and allows
anyone over the age of 18 to visit India for between three weeks and six months. You do
not require any special skills or knowledge but after attending an orientation in the UK
and in India, you can visit projects all over India, ranging from educational to
environmental, or from health to supporting women.
A cheap way to visit an overseas development project
The scheme has very low placement fees compared with schemes offered by othered organisations, so the scheme is particularly suitable for low budget travellers to India, students and gap year travellers wanting a cultural encounter in India, people wanting to discover the real India on a low budget, and people wanting to do voluntary work in India on a low budget.
